Job Description

Overview

Are you looking for that dream opportunity to get a firsthand experience of complete end to end engineering and live site ownership of a high scale, critical tier-0 platform service for Azure? We are a part of Azure Core organization and have complete ownership of Azure Backup Service whose mission is to be the data protection platform for all workloads running both in Azure and on the Managed Edge and help in making Azure, the cloud of choice for all Enterprise customers to run their production workloads on.

 

Responsibilities

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
  • Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight.
  • With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable.
  • Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook.
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Industry experience with distributed systems and services in the cloud.
  • Understanding of Managed code or object oriented programming. Experience with high scale Cloud Services or backup/storage domain a definite plus.
  • Proven ability to track complex technical issues for running online services.
