The Border Security Force (BSF) is India’s border guarding organization at its borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is one of the five Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) of India, and was formed in the wake of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 “for ensuring the security of the borders of India and for connected matters therewith”.
It has various active roles during an outbreak of war. CAPF facilitates a navy, air wing and an artillery regiment. It is under the control of the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, the BSF has a small force of officers or “Cadre”. Notably, the head designated Director-General (DG), has been an Indian Police Service officer since its establishment. The BSF has grown from 25 battalions in 1965, to 192 battalions with a sanctioned strength of 270,000 personnel including an expanding air wing, navy, an artillery regiment and specialized units. Disqualification
(a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living; or
(b) who having a spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with other person, shall be eligible for appointment under these rules:
Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such person and the other party to the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of this rule .
RELAXATIONS OF UPPER AGE LIMIT ARE AS UNDER :-
Age relaxation to different category of eligible candidates for the posts of SI (Works). and JE/SI (Electrical) will only be give~ according to vacancy exists in respective category.
Age of candidates will be determined on the basis of Date of Birth as recorded in their matriculation certificates available on the closing date of submission of application and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.
Prescribed format of certificate for reserved categories are attached as per Annexure – ‘8’ for
SC/ST, Annexure – ‘8-1’ for EWS and Annexure – ‘C’& C1 for OBC category.
Relaxation of respective category will only be given in those cases where vacancies are available in the respective category for the applied post. If vacancies are not available in respective reserved category, candidates applied will be treated as ‘Un Reserved’ candidate, if he/she fulfill the eligibility conditions applicable to Un-reserved candidate. In that case, if found later that candidate does not fulfill the criteria of General category; candidature will be rejected at any stage of the examination.
A person seeking appointment on the basis of reservation to SC/ST/OBC must ensure that he/she possesses the caste/community certificate as per prescribed format given in the Advertisement.
EWS category Candidates also be possess prescribed formats of certificates. The crucial date for this purpose will be the closing date for receipt of applications.
Every candidate seeking reservation as OBC is required to submit a certificate in prescribed format
(Annexure-‘C’) regarding his/her OBC status and non-creamy layer status is ed by the Competent Authority. Candidates claiming OBC status may ensure that he/she possess
caste/community certificate and does not fall in creamy layer on the crucial date i.e. closing date for receipt of application. (In order to ensure it, a declaration in addition to the certificate issued by the
Competent Authority will also be obtained from the candidates seeking reservation as OBC in the format attached as Annexure-‘C-‘1 ‘).

Selection Process
Apply Time
The application by the candidates niust be submitted through ONLINE mode only. No other mode for
submission of application will be accepted. The facility for submission of online application will be opened on
BSF website https://rectt.bsf.gov.in w.e.f 17/03/2024 at 00:01 AM and will be closed on 15/04/2024 at 23:59
PM.
Application Fee
Candidates to pay Rs.200/- (Rupees Two hundred only) as examination fee plus Rs.47.20 service charges
levied by Common Service Centre (CSC) through following payment modes :-
(i) Net banking of any bank.
(ii) Credit/Debit Card of any bank.
(iii) Nearest authorised Common Service Centre
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
Centre for conduct of exam may change at any stage of examination, if required, due to administrative
reasons.
(ii) The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for
admission to the Selection Test. Their admission at all the stages of examination will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If, on verification, at any time
before or after the Selection Test, it is found that they do not fulfil any of the eligibility coAditions, their
candidature for the examination will be cancelled by the Department.
